INLAND NATIONALS: Rutland Sailing Club 2010
It was an eventful championship with a variety of wind conditions that ranged from nothing to a healthy force 3. All the competitors were weighted and an exchange of lead took place on the scale of some of the best london metal dealing rooms. Additionally, a few of us managed to get a floatation test done and our hand and electric pumps were tested fully!
Oh yes, we did some sailing! Megan gave us all a bit of hope on the first race but then stamped her mark on the championship and became our inland national winner. Although the results for Megan are impressive, Martin, Iain, Richard and Bruce gave Megan a good run for her money. On the final race Megan was using all her skills to take Bruce up the waters, just to fend off his attack - despite this she remained infront. The dark horse in the pack was the sneeky Strad of Mr Bullmore. Having removed several Kg of lead he had frightening speed and if it wasnt for gear failure he would have been in the championship rankings. Watch out Norlin owners!
The Frensham boys produced an impressive turnout and the top three landed a healthy 5th, 6th, & 7th
With such a large fleet, the dynamics of the starts and clean air played a large part of who came where.... The starts, as always proved to be the most important part of the race and we look forward to the training weekend at weymouth at the end of August to improve.
Good racing, good company and great fun....
