TIDAL NATIONALS

First day of the Nationals at Poole, Dorset and the wind was a gentle 30 knots with gusts of well over 40! Most of the fleet tried to go out and all but 3 made it past either the harbour wall or the harbour enterance. Gear faulure was the name of the day and Paul Holzherr, Steve Bullmore and Iain Stowe were the three brave / crazy ones that finished racing. The last afternoon race was cancelled and it was a trip to the chandlery or into the back of cars for spares, drills, rivot guns and glue!
Day two.. weather not much improved, and the entire fleet made for the water. Bruce, Ian and Paul were fighting it out and the surprise horse was our own Steve Bullmore in the " optimismed "strad. His boat speed destroy the Norlins and now the one design idea is dead, I wonder how many of us will have to switch to Srads to keep up with Steve and the new Strad boys and Girls. The funny thing is that Steve was so guilty of his extra speed that he decided in both races and may I, say in a very sporting way to go to the furthest mark he could find and give the rest of us a chance.
With the "Crazy three" holding all the cards, they had excellent points to secure victory as we entered day three.
Paul was so keen on day three that as daylight broke in Poole harbour he was rigged and on the water. The rest of the fleet had another coffee before joing him. Although Bruce could not win, he did stamp his mark on the last two races and at the close of business we have Mr Iain Stowe as National Champion, Paul Holzherr in second place and Steve Bullmore in Third.

2010 National Champion - Iain Stowe!
